Maritsa Municipality is established by a Decree of the State Council in October 1987. The administrative district is based in Plovdiv district. Located in the Upper Valley, the municipality occupies a central position within the territorial scope of the Plovdiv region, respectively and South central region of the country. It borders upon the municipalities of Plovdiv, Rakovski, Rodopi, Sadovo, and Kaloyanovo. It occupies an area of  34 256.8 ha.  Maritsa Municipality includes 19 villages - Trud, Manole, Rogosh, Graf Ignatievo, Stroevo, Scutare, Tsaratsovo, Voyvodinovo, Radinovoq Kostievo, Benkovski Voysil, Manolsko Konare, Yasno pole,Dink, Jeliazno, Trilistnik, Kalekovets, Krislovo.
