Maritsa Municipality’s population is 30,710 people which is 4.5 % of the total population of  Plovdiv district and 0.4% of that of the country. The total number of the population lists the municipality among the "medium (30-100 thousand) class” municipalities. The density is 94 people / km ² in comparison with 119 people / km ² in the area and 70 people / km ² in the country. The resident population is mainly rural. In territorial cross-section it becomes obvious that the distribution of the population in different areas and the nineteen  villages is uneven. The most populated village is Trud and the less populated village is Jeliazno. The average number of the population is  approximately 1650 people in comparison with the average number in the district which is 970 people and 520 people in a town or a village in the country. According to their population, the medium and large villages (over 1000 inhabitants) dominate.
