The existence of the Maritsa Municipality as an administrative unit comparatively short and it is a young municipality, but the historical roots of its villages are deep in the ancient times. These lands have been inhabited since the Neolithic and Chalcolithic. Northwest of the village of Trud there is a necropolis of eight Thracian mounds. In the late fifties of the last century, in the area Bonchovi shrubs there were discovered remains of a Thracian sanctuary. In 1970 during the digging of a canal between the villages Trud and Stroevo there was found an unknown to the science border stone with an inscription concerning the ancient Thracian settlement Bendipara. In the nearby village Stroevo there are another five tombs (mounds). Two of them are known as the Dragon mounds. Constantine Irechekin his works supposes that the main road from Philipopolis to Hisar passed through the village. A significantly ancient settlement existed and west of the village.
A prehistoric mound Razkopanitsa near the village of Manole dating from the Bronze Age is very popular and well known among the Bulgarian scientists. Near the villages of Voyvodinovo, Voysil , Benkovski there have been found clues which are an evidence for the existence of a prehistoric settlements.
The villages of Trilistnik, Manole, Manolsko Konare , Skutare and Rogosh store valuable historical material that makes it possible to trace the development of architecture, construction, wine industry and weaving. The villages situated along the Maritza river keep a rich heritage of legends, amazing stories, where the boundary between real and mythical disappears.
